General Policy Information

Dance Unlimited is a professional organization and dance education center. We respect our clients and trust that same respect will be reciprocated. Each student's best interest is taken into consideration in all decisions: please understand we want what is best for our dancers ... all policies must be followed. All decisions made by Amy are final; failure to adhere to policy will result in dismissal.

Thank you for your cooperation, support, trust, and enthusiasm, they are much appreciated. We hope this year is a rewarding one for you and your dancer.

Dancers

Studio/Classroom Policy

No Cell Phone Use in Studio.  Please make all cell phone calls outside of studio and make sure ringers are left off, ESPECIALLY if you are in dance class.

VIEWING WINDOWS:
In order to foster each dancer's progress, the observation windows are closed except for "viewing week/trash week" which takes place the first week of each month.  Students, especially those new to dance, improve at a more accelerated pace without the scrutiny and pressure of parents, peers and other observers peering through the window.

The studio lobby and classrooms are not to be used as a playground, for entertainment purposes or as an arena for critiquing the students and/or gossiping about others.  Please be courteous and respectful.

Young children should NEVER BE LEFT UNATTENDED, this includes even going to the bathroom or dressing room.  Absolutely NO RUNNING OR LOUD NOISES (we can hear you in the studios).  Please do not knock on the windows and wave when observing classes, they are not zoo exhibits!

No food or drinks are allowed in the studio.  This includes all dancers, including parents, siblings, relatives, friends and visitors.  Water being an exception.  Please clean up after your children and remind them to clean up after themselves.

Students and parents need to respect all instructors.  If there is ever a problem, please find a time to visit with Amy personally.  Between classes is not always the best time to solve problems.  Dance Unlimited wants to ensure your concerns are given full attention.  You can also e-mail Amy at amyrr@cox.net

Dancers need to arrive promptly and in proper dance attire.  Please do not enroll in a 4:00 dance class if you cannot arrive on time.  If you are going to be late or absent please call and let us know.  Improvement in dance requires attendance.  If you drive yourself to class and are consistently late, you may be asked to observe class rather than participate, and your parents will be notified.  This is disrespectful to your instructors and fellow classmates.

Proper attire is specific and required for each class.  Please see the dress code section.  Proper dress helps prevent injury, helps to move freely, and allows the teacher to observe body placement and make corrections.  Check with instructor if unsure of proper dress.

No gum, candy, watches, jewelry, food, or drink in the the dance rooms.  No water bottles allowed in any studio.  Watches and Jewelry will be collected by teachers at the beginning of class.  It is the dancer's responsibility to collect them at the end of class.

Please make sure your children are picked up promptly after class.  Students should not have to wait more than 5 minutes, and we are not responsible for babysitting.  Please remind your children NOT to go outside unless you are there.

Lost and Found:  There is a lost and found box in the dressing room.  All items will be held for 30 days.  Those items, including dance shoes, not picked up will be donated to a local charity.

Dress Code

Ballet:  Students need to wear a BLACK leotard (Only Tn 4 may wear solid colored leotards of any color), pink footed or convertible tights (NO FOOTLESS) and pink split sole ballet shoes*, NO CANVAS.  Hair in a bun, even short hair will need to be secured out of face.  If you are unsure what to do with your child's hair do not be afraid to ask their teacher (let them help you).  Helpful Tips for Buns   Absolutely no skirts, or leotards with attached skirts.  Must have permission to continue En Pointe.

*CH I, II and Jr I Ballet Shoes:  Bloch 258G Pink Ballet Shoes (the elastic is already attached).  Jr II through Tn IV Ballet Shoes:  Capezio Juliette.

Jazz Dance:  Students need to wear a black leotard, black tights, and black Bloch 401L slip-on split sole jazz shoes.  Hair secured out of face.  Absolutely NO baggy pants for any level.

Tap Dance:  Students need to wear a black leotard, black tights and Black Tap shoes.  Creative Combo, CH I and II should get patent leather tap shoes (don't forget your tap ties) and Jr and Tn levels should get Bloch OR Capezio Taps.

Hip Hop:  Students can wear any type of comfortable clothing and tennis shoes.  No slip on tennis shoes, sandals, or bare feet.  Hair out of face.

Where to purchase your dance clothes ...
Creative Dancewear or Showbiz Dancewear.

All students must adhere to proper dress code and hair guidelines.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Students not following dress code may be dismissed from class.  (While creative and flowing costumes, ornate jewelry, and bouncy hair ties are appropriate for "dress up," they are distracting to your own child and others in the dance setting.)

"Trash day" is held the first FULL week of every month and students can wear whatever they want that is "danceable."  No Jeans.  This however, is not true for HAIR, the hair must be up appropriately.  Parents please try to remember trash week, it is very important to your child.

The Dance Unlimited Student

Dancer performing sauteDance Unlimited Faculty encourages all students to progress at their own rate within a nurturing and supportive class environment.  The director will notify a parent if their child is ready to move to the next level.  Emotional, social and physical needs and developments are foremost in our consideration of class placements.  We are considering age, experience, number of years dancing, dance history, progress, pace in "picking up" material, physical development, attitude and work ethic in class.

We appreciate your respect and cooperation in this matter.  Parents may request an evaluation by leaving a written memo at the front desk.  Please allow two weeks for processing.

Dance Unlimited is a professional organization and dance education center.  Amy reserves the right to re-direct placement of any student while attending any classes and/or workshops.

The Dance Unlimited Parent

We hope that by enrolling your child at DU you intend to take an active part in helping your dancer by taking a genuine, enthusiastic interest in not only your child's progression but also in the art of dance itself.  You must also trust that we will make decisions in your child's best interests.  His/her welfare is first and foremost.  We hope to make a memorable and meaningful experience.

Attendance Policy

dancersClass attendance is of the utmost importance in a dancers progress, sense of accomplishment, technical development and confidence.  Please call the studio to let us know if you are going to be late or absent to class.  Absences should be made up promptly.  Absences become critical, especially around production time, for not only the student but also for fellow dancers and the dance piece itself.  Excessive absenteeism may jeopardize a dancer's privilege of performing with their class; also all accounts must be settled before show time.  Amy's decision is final in these cases.

Teen four and Jr four classes will have limited absences.  If you foresee multiple absences in this class level please do not enroll.

When weather conditions result in local school closings please call the studio after 2pm and check messages, you may also check our web site.  If we close due to weather, classes will be made up at a later time.

Miscellaneous

All changes must be told to the front desk, NOT your child's instructor.  Examples of changes would be address, phone number, schedule changes and/or drops.

We ask that there be NO interruptions before, during or between classes.  Only students and teachers are to be in the studio class rooms.  Please do not touch window blinds without consulting your child's teacher first.  Blinds will be open for your viewing the first week of every month.

There is a tuition box located on the front desk for you to drop your payments.  Please clearly write your CHILD'S NAME ON CHECK or place cash in an envelope.  In addition, this box may be used to drop off comments and suggestions.  Your concerns and interests are very important to us and will be carefully reviewed and considered.  There is also a a mail slot in the front door that may be used if we are closed.

No running or loud noises in the studio.  Young children must always be attended to and supervised.

Dance Unlimited is not responsible for accidents or lost articles.  To avoid loss, please label all belongings.

Phone messages are not checked Thursday after 9:00pm until Monday at 4:00pm.

Dance Unlimited does not have web service or e-mail at the studio.

Dance Unlimited reserves the right to refuse service and/or admission.

Tuition Policy

There is a $30.00 enrollment fee per student.  $25.00 for families, per family member.  This fee is non-refundable and/or non-transferable.

Tuition is due by the first class of each month.  Tuition is considered on time if paid by the 10th of each month.  Each month allows for up to 3-5 lessons, considering holiday closings, year-end performances and dress rehearsals (which are also counted as lessons), tuition is the same for each month.  Keep in mind that Monday classes are out more than other days.  Tuition may be paid by check or cash.  Please write child's name on check so there is NO confusion.  There will be a $25.00 charge on all returned checks, and students will not be allowed admittance to class until matter is resolved.  Checks will NOT be run more than one time through the bank.

A $10.00 late fee will be added to tuition if not paid by the 10th of each month.  A $20.00 late fee will occur if tuition is still not paid by the 20th.  For your convenience there is a drop slot in the front door or you may mail your payments to 514 S Bryant Ave, Edmond OK  73034.

Tuition must be paid in full before students are permitted to continue the following month, receive their costume and/or perform in the productions.

All classes must be paid for in advance.  No credits, adjustments, or refunds.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  There are NO refunds for missed or dropped classes.  When a student misses a class, the class should then be made up in a timely manner.  No credits for dropped classes from one sibling to another.

When weather conditions result in local school closings please call the studio after 2:00pm and check messages, you may also check this web site.  If we close due to weather, classes will be made up at a later time.

If a student or instructor is ill, or unable for other reasons, to come to class for a long period of time, or if a class has to be rescheduled due to some unforeseen reason, the student will still be billed for tuition and all late fees will still apply unless the studio Front Desk is notified PRIOR to absences (do not just let your instructor know) and you will still be expected to pay on time.

Production Information

Beauty and the BeastEvery year Dance Unlimited presents an amazing year-end production.  The 2009 show theme is Alice in Wonderland.  Our production will hopefully be the last weekend in May or the first weekend in June 2009.

Costume prices range from $55-$85 per costume, plus you will have a production fee of $30.00.  Costumes will be ordered before Christmas and payment is required in advance.

Once you have paid for your costume and production fee it is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE even if you paid before the deadline.  So be 100% that your child wants to be in the recital before you write the checks please

There will be three shows presented.  Students who do not wish to participate in the production please let the front desk know.  Each class will have to be uniform on their tights, shoes and hair for production, this will involve buying new tights (possibly) and painting shoes!  Again the costume fees and production fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

DU does charge an admission to get into the production.  Tickets will go on sale in March.  You will also be able to order a Production T-shirt and DVD of the show if you would like.
