Lyn Cramer

Lyn CramerLyn Cramer, a teacher and choreographer for three decades, is a Weitzenhoffer Endowed Professor of Musical Theatre Dance at the University of Oklahoma. At the University, Cramer teaches jazz, tap, musical theatre dance styles, and is the department's resident director and choreographer. She was named the 2005 Irene and Julian J. Rothbaum Presidential Professor of Excellence in the Arts for the Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts.

Cramer received her master's degree from the University of Texas in directing. Cramer is professionally associated with such regional theatres as Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma City, Music Theatre of Wichita, and Casa Manana in Fort Worth. A member of Actor's Equity and The Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, Cramer's credits include Cabaret, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, 42nd Street, Smokey Joe's Cafe, Urinetown, Nine, Cabaret, Aida, Five Guys Named Moe, A Chorus Line, Showboat, Good News, My One and Only, Crazy For You, Guys and Dolls, Sweet Charity, Dames at Sea, Once on this Island, Candide, West Side Story, The Apple Tree, Side by Side by Sondheim, The Music Man, HMS Pinafore, Grease and How to Succeed in Business.

Cramer has released ten instructional tap videos with Cathy Roe Productions in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her jazz choreography is included in Roe's "Learn to Teach" and "Choreography Club" video series. She was an external examiner and master teacher in 1999 and 2003 for the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts in Musical Theatre. She has published the textbook Jazz Jargon for the Texas Association of Teachers of Dance where she served on the Board of Directors. Cramer also published a tap curriculum for Dance Teacher magazine.

In 2004, Cramer was honored with the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters Artistic Achievement Award. Her students are employed all over the world as entertainers from Broadway and Las Vegas to cruise ships, theme parks, pop tours, commercials, industrials and videos. For over 18 years, Cramer has been a master teacher in jazz and tap, and a judge for organizations, schools and competitions nationwide.
